A New Requiem - The Holroyd Requiem
Penned in loving memory of the composer's Choral Professor, Sarah Holroyd, formerly of the University of Kentucky School of Music, this very approachable and singable work is about 45 minutes long. A small orchestra of strings, brass and organ continue accompany the voices beautifully throughout the work. It could also be sung by a quartet or octet with single players on each of the accompanying instruments as a chamber work. Most church choirs could sing this with reasonable ease, too. It's a great piece for sacred concert and for the remembrance of those whose lives continue into the hereafter.
